Prunus avium 'Lapins' (Cherry) is an excellent self-fertile sweet cherry producing large, dark red, heart-shaped fruit with exceptional flavour. This productive variety features beautiful white spring blossoms and is one of the most reliable cherries for home gardens.
Growing Conditions: Requires full sun and well-drained soil. Excellent frost-tolerance and chill requirement satisfaction in Ballarat's climate. Benefits from protection from strong winds.
Dimensions: Reaches approximately 4-5m height × 3-4m width (can be maintained smaller with pruning)
Care: Prune after fruiting to maintain shape and size. Water regularly during fruit development. Fertilise in early spring. Net fruit to protect from birds. Self-fertile, so no pollinator required. Fruit ripens mid to late summer.
