Acacia floribunda, commonly known as Gossamer Wattle or White Sallow Wattle, is a graceful, fast-growing Australian native prized for its delicate, weeping foliage and masses of pale yellow, lightly scented flower rods in late winter and spring. This evergreen shrub or small tree typically grows 4 to 8 meters tall and up to 4.5 meters wide, providing a stunning soft screen or informal hedge in gardens and landscapes.

Extremely versatile, Acacia floribunda thrives in full sun to part shade and adapts well to various soil types—including clay, sandy, or loamy soils with good drainage. It tolerates wet and boggy sites but is also drought tolerant once established. Gossamer Wattle is frost hardy (to -7°C), wind and salt tolerant, and excellent for creekside planting, erosion control, and revegetation.

Low maintenance, Acacia floribunda requires minimal pruning—simply prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and density. Its dense growth is ideal for privacy screens, wildlife habitat, and as a windbreak. The nitrogen-fixing roots enrich soil, making it suitable for planting near fruit trees. Mulch well after planting and apply slow-release native fertiliser annually for best results.
