Acer palmatum ‘Emerald Lace’ - Japanese Maple Short Standard

Acer palmatum ‘Emerald Lace’ is a beautiful deciduous Japanese maple with finely dissected, lace-like green foliage and a graceful, cascading habit. Fresh green leaves bring soft texture through spring and summer before turning shades of gold, orange and red in autumn.

This short-standard form is grafted onto a compact trunk, creating a small tree with a relatively low canopy. The plants in 33 cm pots are currently approximately 1.4 metres tall. As they mature, the canopy will broaden and develop its elegant cascading shape, with overall dimensions influenced by graft height, growing conditions and pruning.

Choose a sheltered position in full sun to part shade, with protection from hot afternoon sun and drying winds. Keep the soil evenly moist but well drained, particularly during warmer weather. Frost tolerant and suited to Ballarat’s cool climate, ‘Emerald Lace’ makes an attractive feature in a garden bed, lawn setting or large container. Protect tender new spring growth from late frosts.

At Navigators Nursery near Ballarat, ‘Emerald Lace’ offers delicate foliage, graceful form and beautiful autumn colour for a sheltered garden.
