Betula pendula (Silver Birch) is a graceful deciduous tree renowned for its striking white bark and delicate weeping branches. This classic European birch provides year-round interest with fresh green spring foliage, dappled summer shade, golden autumn colour, and beautiful white bark in winter.
Growing Conditions: Prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Extremely frost-hardy and perfectly suited to Ballarat's cold climate. Tolerates a wide range of soil types.
Dimensions: Grows to approximately 12-15m height × 6-8m width at maturity
Care: Water regularly during establishment. Minimal pruning required - remove dead or crossing branches in late winter. Mulch around the base to retain moisture. Excellent specimen tree for large gardens and parks.
