Callistemon 'Sweet Burst'

Callistemon citrinus ‘Sweet Burst’™, commonly known as Sweet Burst Bottlebrush, is a beautiful Australian native shrub with fine, dark green foliage and masses of soft baby pink bottlebrush flowers in spring. The delicate pink flowers create a lovely contrast against the foliage and are highly attractive to native birds and bees.

Growing to around 90cm to 1.2 metres tall and 90cm to 1.2 metres wide, ‘Sweet Burst’ forms a semi compact, rounded shrub that works beautifully as a low hedge, feature plant or in mass planting. Its naturally tidy habit means it requires very little pruning to maintain an attractive shape.

It prefers a sunny to partly shaded position and is adaptable to most well drained soils. Once established, it is drought tolerant and has good frost tolerance, making it well suited to the cool conditions experienced around Ballarat. A light prune can be carried out if a denser or more formal shape is desired.
