Ceratostigma plumbaginoides
Ceratostigma plumbaginoides
Ceratostigma plumbaginoides (Plumbago) is a stunning low-growing perennial that produces brilliant cobalt-blue flowers from late summer through autumn when many other plants are fading. The vibrant blooms create a carpet of intense color, while the foliage turns rich bronze-red in autumn, providing a spectacular seasonal display.
This hardy groundcover spreads slowly by rhizomes to form dense mats, making it excellent for edging, mass plantings, or filling difficult areas. The electric-blue flowers are a rare color in the garden and attract butterflies and bees. Ceratostigma is remarkably tough once established and thrives in Ballarat's climate.
