Chamelaucium uncinatum ‘Local Hero’ – Pink Waxflower

Chamelaucium uncinatum ‘Local Hero’ is a compact, rounded Australian native shrub with fine green foliage and masses of glossy red buds that open to pink, waxy flowers with deep red centres. Flowering from winter into spring, it provides a lovely seasonal display and is also excellent for cut flowers.

Growing to around 80 cm high x 1.5 m wide, ‘Local Hero’ is suited to garden beds, borders and feature planting. Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Lightly prune after flowering to encourage a bushy habit and future flowering. Once established, it is drought tolerant.

This Western Australian native tolerates light frost, but its suitability for the heavier frosts and cold winters of Ballarat and Navigators is uncertain. At Navigators Nursery, your frost-hardy nursery near Ballarat, we recommend a sheltered, well-drained position for this waxflower, with protection from heavy frost.
