Cornus capitata - Himalayan Dogwood

Cornus capitata (Himalayan Dogwood) is a stunning semi-evergreen to evergreen tree that delivers year-round interest in the garden. In late spring to early summer, it produces masses of creamy-white to pale yellow bracts surrounding tiny flowers — a breathtaking display. These are followed by large, fleshy, strawberry-like red fruits in autumn that are loved by birds. Foliage takes on attractive reddish tones as the season cools.

A superb specimen tree for a sheltered position, Cornus capitata is well suited to Ballarat's cold climate, tolerating frost once established. It thrives in a sunny to partly shaded position with well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
