Cytisus scoparius 'Snow Queen'
Cytisus scoparius 'Snow Queen'
Cytisus ‘Snow Queen’, commonly known as Snow Queen Broom, is a beautiful deciduous shrub that produces masses of pure white, pea shaped flowers along its slender green branches in mid to late spring. The flowers appear in such abundance that they create a striking display against the fresh green foliage.
Growing to around 1.5 to 2 metres tall and 1.5 to 2 metres wide, ‘Snow Queen’ forms an attractive, rounded shrub with a light, airy appearance. It works beautifully in garden beds, cottage gardens, mixed borders or as a feature shrub where its spring flowering can be enjoyed.
It prefers a sunny position with well drained soil and is tolerant of relatively dry conditions once established. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain a neat shape and encourages fresh growth for future flowering. It is well suited to cool climates, although young plants can benefit from protection during particularly heavy frosts.
At Navigators Nursery, we carefully select plants with our local conditions in mind, and ‘Snow Queen’ is a lovely choice for bringing a beautiful burst of fresh white spring colour to a Ballarat garden.
