Euonymus alatus – Winged Euonymus
Euonymus alatus – Winged Euonymus
Euonymus alatus, commonly known as Winged Euonymus, is a beautiful deciduous shrub best known for its spectacular autumn colour. Its green foliage turns brilliant shades of crimson and red, bringing a striking seasonal display to the garden.
Distinctive corky, wing-like ridges along its stems provide added winter interest when the branches are bare. Growing approximately 2–2.5 m high and wide, it makes an attractive feature shrub or addition to mixed garden plantings.
Plant in a sunny to partly shaded position in well-drained soil. Good sunlight helps bring out its best autumn colour. Very frost hardy and well suited to cooler climates, it is an excellent choice for Ballarat gardens.
At Navigators Nursery, a frost-hardy nursery near Ballarat, we carefully select plants suited to local growing conditions, including the cooler climate of Ballarat and surrounding areas.
