Hakea crassinervia - Burrendong Beauty

Hakea crassinervia 'Burrendong Beauty' is a stunning Australian native shrub featuring masses of pink spider-like flowers in winter and spring. This lovely cultivar produces abundant nectar-rich blooms that attract honeyeaters and other native birds during the cooler months, creating vibrant color when few other plants are flowering.

In Ballarat's cold climate, 'Burrendong Beauty' needs a little care while getting established.    It thrives in full sun positions with free draining soil.    Its compact growth habit and winter flowering make it perfect for borders, feature plantings, or as a bird-attracting focal point. The fine, needle-like evergreen foliage provides year-round textural interest.

Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly during establishment. Once established, this tough native requires minimal maintenance and handles dry periods well. Avoid phosphorus-rich fertilizers and prune lightly after flowering.
