Helichrysum petiolare ‘Licorice’ | Licorice Plant
Helichrysum petiolare ‘Licorice’ | Licorice Plant
Helichrysum petiolare ‘Licorice’ is a soft-textured, spreading foliage plant with rounded, silvery grey-green leaves. Its cascading habit is useful for softening garden edges, filling gaps between other plants and spilling over the sides of pots and retaining walls. Small, creamy flowers may appear in summer.
Growing to around 80cm–1m high and wide, it can be trimmed to maintain a more compact shape. Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Once established, it tolerates dry conditions and responds well to regular pruning if it becomes too large or untidy.
It tolerates moderate frost, but repeated -3°C frosts may damage foliage, particularly in exposed positions. In Ballarat’s cold climate, choose a sheltered position and protect from repeated hard frosts.
At Navigators Nursery, your frost-hardy nursery near Ballarat, we select plants that offer interesting foliage and practical uses in the garden, with clear advice about plants that need extra frost protection.
