Hydrangea hybrid ‘USHYD0405’ – Runaway Bride™ Garland Hydrangea

Hydrangea Runaway Bride™, botanical name Hydrangea hybrid ‘USHYD0405’, is a beautiful and unusual hydrangea with masses of crisp white flowers held along long, arching stems. The flowers create a stunning garland-like effect and can continue from late spring through to autumn, providing an exceptionally long flowering display. As the flowers age, they develop attractive soft green and pink tones.

Growing to around 1.2 metres tall and 1.5 metres wide, Runaway Bride™ develops a naturally spreading, graceful habit that works beautifully in garden beds, as a low informal hedge or in large pots and containers. The dark green foliage also develops beautiful red and orange tones in autumn.

It prefers a sunny to partly shaded position with moist, well-drained soil and protection from hot afternoon sun and drying winds. Unlike many hydrangeas, it does not require regular pruning. Allowing the basal shoots to develop helps create the distinctive flowering stems in following seasons. It is frost hardy and particularly well suited to our Ballarat cold climate, although protection from heavy late frosts can help protect early new growth.

At Navigators Nursery, your frost-hardy nursery near Ballarat, we carefully select plants with our local conditions in mind. Runaway Bride™ is a truly beautiful choice for bringing months of white flowers and a lovely, naturally graceful form to a Ballarat garden.
