Leucadendron discolor - Conebush

Leucadendron discolor is a striking South African evergreen shrub that brings vibrant colour and architectural interest to sunny gardens. This distinctive plant reaches 2m tall and 1-1.5m wide, starting with a bushy habit before developing elegant erect flowering stems that make it perfect for cut flower arrangements.

Spectacular bright red-and-yellow flowerheads adorned with creamy involucral bracts, create a stunning display from late winter through spring. Female plants form attractive grey-green cones with pale green bracts, and the winged seeds are retained on the plant, adding textural interest. This species thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, making it ideal for Ballarat's sunny north and west-facing positions.
