Parthenocissus tricuspidata - Boston Ivy
Parthenocissus tricuspidata - Boston Ivy
Boston Ivy (Parthenocissus tricuspidata) is a vigorous, self-clinging deciduous climber renowned for its spectacular autumn foliage display. The large, glossy three-lobed leaves turn brilliant shades of crimson, scarlet, and orange as the season cools — a breathtaking sight on walls, fences, and buildings. In summer the dense green canopy provides excellent coverage and a cooling effect on structures.
Self-adhering tendrils allow it to climb unaided on brick, stone, and timber without the need for wires or supports. Fully frost hardy and well suited to Ballarat’s cold winters, it is a tough, long-lived plant that rewards with one of the most dramatic seasonal colour changes in the garden.
