Poa labillardieri - Common Tussock Grass
Poa labillardieri - Common Tussock Grass
Poa labillardieri, commonly known as Common Tussock Grass, is a beautiful Australian native grass that forms a dense, rounded clump of fine blue-green to grey-green foliage. Its graceful leaves have a soft, arching habit, while delicate flowering stems rise above the foliage in spring and summer, adding movement and texture to the garden.
Growing to approximately 1 metre tall and 70 cm wide, Common Tussock Grass forms an attractive, substantial clump suited to feature planting, garden edges and groups for a naturalistic effect. It is also useful for erosion control and provides habitat and food for native wildlife.
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Adaptable to a range of soils, it is drought tolerant once established and requires little maintenance. Highly frost tolerant and particularly well suited to Ballarat’s cold climate, it is a reliable choice for local gardens. Cut old foliage back in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh new growth.
At Navigators Nursery near Ballarat, Common Tussock Grass offers year-round texture, movement and natural character for gardens and landscapes.
