Protea 'Susara'

Protea 'Susara' is a stunning South African native that produces large, showy flower heads in shades of pink and cream. This compact protea is prized for its spectacular blooms that make excellent cut flowers and create a dramatic focal point in the garden.

Growing to approximately 1.5-2 metres tall with a similar spread, 'Susara' is well-suited to gardens with well-drained soil and full sun exposure. The distinctive flowers appear from late winter through spring, attracting birds and adding exotic beauty to native and Mediterranean-style plantings.

Like all proteas, 'Susara' requires excellent drainage and thrives in low-phosphorus soil conditions. Once established, it shows good drought tolerance and is frost-hardy, making it suitable for gardens with similar conditions. Avoid heavy clay soils and ensure good air circulation around the plant.
