Pyrus calleryana ‘Cleveland Select’ (also known as ‘Chanticleer’) is one of the most reliable ornamental pears for cool-climate Australian gardens, prized for its symmetrical, teardrop form and striking seasonal performance.

In early spring, before a single leaf appears, the tree bursts into a cloud of white blossom — a truly breathtaking sight. Come autumn, the rich dark green foliage transforms all at once into a vivid, uniform red, avoiding the patchy colour change seen in lesser varieties.

Its naturally neat, upright form requires minimal pruning, making it an excellent choice for home gardens as well as avenue and street plantings.
