Rhododendron ‘Colonel Coen’

Rhododendron ‘Colonel Coen’ is an evergreen shrub with striking clusters of deep purple flowers, highlighted by darker markings on the upper petals. The flowers create a rich display in spring, contrasting beautifully with the glossy, dark green foliage.

Growing to around 1.5m high and wide over time, it develops a vigorous, bushy habit and makes an excellent feature shrub for a sheltered garden or woodland-style planting. Plant in part shade, ideally with protection from hot afternoon sun, in moist, well-drained, acidic soil rich in organic matter. Keep the roots cool with mulch and water regularly during dry periods.

‘Colonel Coen’ is a cold-hardy rhododendron suited to cool-climate gardens, including frosty areas around Ballarat. Choose a position protected from drying winds for the best results.

At Navigators Nursery, your frost-hardy nursery near Ballarat, we carefully select plants suited to local conditions, including distinctive flowering shrubs that bring colour and structure to the garden.
