Serruria florida 'Blushing Bride'

Serruria florida ‘Blushing Bride’, commonly known as Blushing Bride, is a beautiful evergreen shrub from the Proteaceae family, prized for its delicate white to pale pink flowers. The intricate blooms have a soft, papery appearance and are produced in abundance through winter and spring, making them especially popular for fresh and dried flower arrangements.

Growing to around 1 metre tall and 1 metre wide, ‘Blushing Bride’ forms a fine, open shrub with delicate, feathery foliage. It is particularly well suited to pots and containers, where its beautiful flowers can be enjoyed up close, and also makes a lovely feature plant in the garden.

It prefers a sunny position with excellent drainage and an acidic, low pH soil. Good drainage is particularly important, and it should not be allowed to sit in wet soil. Use a low phosphorus fertiliser suitable for Proteaceae and avoid heavy feeding. It is moderately frost tolerant, but protection from severe frosts is recommended, particularly while young. In Ballarat’s cold climate, choose a sheltered position or a container that can be moved to protection during severe frosts.

At Navigators Nursery, we carefully select plants with our local conditions in mind, and Blushing Bride is a beautiful choice for bringing delicate winter and spring flowers and a touch of something special to a sheltered Ballarat garden or patio.
