Serruria ‘Pretty in Pink’ – Pink Flowering Proteaceae Shrub

Serruria ‘Pretty in Pink’ is a beautiful evergreen shrub from the Proteaceae family, prized for its masses of delicate pink flowers produced through winter and spring. The intricate blooms have a fine, papery appearance and soft pink tones, creating a lovely display against the plant’s fine, needle-like foliage. The flowers are also highly regarded as long-lasting cut flowers.

Growing to around 1 metre tall and 1 metre wide, ‘Pretty in Pink’ forms a compact, fine-textured shrub that is particularly well suited to pots and containers, sunny garden beds or as a feature plant where its delicate flowers can be enjoyed up close.

It prefers a sunny position with excellent drainage and an acidic, low pH soil. Good drainage is essential, and it should not be planted where the soil remains wet. Use only a low phosphorus fertiliser suitable for Proteaceae, as Serruria are particularly sensitive to phosphorus. It is tolerant of light to moderate frost, but protection from severe frosts is recommended, particularly while young. In Ballarat’s cold climate, choose a sheltered position or a container that can be moved to protection during severe frosts.
