Stachys byzantina (Lamb's Ear)

Stachys byzantina, commonly known as Lamb's Ear, is a classic low-growing perennial grown for its striking silvery-grey, densely felted foliage. The soft, velvety leaves are tactile and eye-catching, making it a favourite for garden borders, cottage gardens, and ground cover plantings.

Lamb's Ear thrives in well-drained soils and prefers a sunny position. It is extremely frost-hardy and well-suited to the cold climate conditions of the Ballarat region and surrounding areas. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance.

In summer, upright flower spikes emerge bearing small pinkish-purple blooms, attracting pollinators to the garden. Spreads gradually to form a neat clump.
